Aboriginal Islander Education Officer

My name is Shauna Narrier.  I am a proud Noongar Yamatji woman and the Aboriginal Islander Education Officer at Clarkson Primary School. My role involves mentoring/student support within the school providing both educational and emotional support to our Aboriginal students. This also involves liaising with the families to get the best outcome for the children attending school and providing family support. I coordinate with the student service team and am an attendance officer; student attendance is a vital component in a child's education.

I provide cultural awareness throughout the school, support class activities, coordinate NAIDOC Week, Reconciliation, Sorry Day etc.

Improving the educational outcomes of Aboriginal students is a key priority for our school. We want Aboriginal students to gain the knowledge, power and skills to be the emerging leaders of our Community and be proud of who they are and where they come from. We welcome support from our Elders, families and community members to be part of Clarkson Primary School’s direction forward to create a stronger community for our students.
