Clarkson Primary school has a strong history of achieving excellent results in Literacy. All classrooms undertake a minimum of 2 hours per day in this learning area. Class teachers have structured well planned and evidence based literacy blocks that cover all components of Literacy as required by the National curriculum. Teacher expectations are high and concepts are explicitly taught on a needs basis and teachers differentiate their planning to cater for the needs of our students. The school is very well resourced and students have access to modern technology to support their learning. As with all areas staff meeting regularly in both curriculum and phase level groups to address and set targets within Literacy and Numeracy. These meetings occur four times a term and allow staff to maintain a full understanding of all students' academic needs and utilise existing staff expertise to address these needs.
