Staff Biographies


Principal:

 
Shields, Anthony After spending the first 17 years of my working life in the hospitality industry in various Hotels and clubs throughout Australia and the UK I chose to join the world of education in 1998. Over the past 17 years I have taught in several metropolitan and regional schools before my journey found me at Clarkson Primary School in 2012. I find it a privilege and an honour to be the Principal of a school with such committed staff, parents and students. I am looking forward to being a big part of Clarkson Primary School's future for many years to come.

Associate Principals:

 
Morris, Lloyd I have 20 years of experience in education, 10 years in administration. I majored in Human Movement and Mathematics.

Teachers:

 
Barry, Christine I trained in England before emigrating to Australia in 1975.
I have taught mainly in the Junior Primary area for 40 years.
I love the enthusiasm and the desire to learn that these children bring with them to school every day.
Out of school my hobbies are card making and cooking.
Boyer, Karen My qualifications are a Diploma of Teaching and a Graduate Diploma of Applied Science in Computer Studies. Interests are gardening, cooking and family.
Brennan, Leah I have been teaching at Clarkson Primary School since 1995. I love crazy cartoon t-shirts.
Cooke, Laura 18 years teaching experience in primary schools, mostly in senior classes. I am an avid basketball fan, supporting the Perth Wildcats. I love photography and using this skill when exploring new places around the world.
Elieff, Paula Graduated from Edith Cowan University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood. Started my career in Tom Price where I taught some of the parents of my current students. I am married with two children and I live locally as we love the coastal life style.
Grey, Linda Class teacher with over 20 years' experience. I have worked as a Literacy Specialist across all year levels. I am passionate about teaching and supporting students with their learning.
Kanzaki, Melissa I have a degree in Asian Studies from Murdoch University. I have also studied at Lausanne University in Switzerland. I speak French and Japanese. I am dedicated to improving literacy standards and I have been teaching at Clarkson Primary School since 2003. I am an animal lover and adore Pugs and African Painted Dogs.
Kennedy, Gemma With a background in performance and dance, I have a love and passion for creating and delivering both class and whole school performances. I enjoy teaching choir and dance troupes and although I intended on heading straight into a classroom after graduating, I am currently in my 6th year of teaching Music/Performing Arts! I believe every that child is amazing at something, and that sometimes it just takes us a while to find out what that is...but we will. Clarkson Primary is a fantastic and encouraging environment, and I love teaching here.
Mayes, Margot I have enjoyed being a part of the Clarkson Community since 2003. Before that I have taught in a wide variety of city and rural locations and once overseas in Eastern Canada. Literacy is my passion but I have also been a Music specialist teacher. Middle and upper primary students are my most preferred age group to teach. I absolutely love being a teacher at Clarkson Primary School!
Mitchell, Jennifer I studied at ECU and graduated in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. Have been teaching for 24 years, 22 of them at Clarkson Primary School the other two years was at Morawa District High School !! Over the years I have taught a range of year levels from year one to year six. I also enjoyed being a sport teacher for a while. Have a particular interest in teaching science and maths.
Mitskas, Constantine I have a Bachelor of Music Performance and a Diploma of Primary Education.  I have been teaching in Primary and Middle Schools for 12 years.
Nevill, Joyce Diploma KTC, Bachelor Education Early Childhood. I have been teaching at Clarkson Primary School for 17 years in the Early Childhood area, initially Pre-Primary and now Kindergarten. I'm the mother of twin sons, and a grandmother.
Nims, Jacqueline I have a Bachelor of Education K-7, specialisation areas of LOTE, EAL/D, Education Support and Deaf Education. My philosophy on education is to collaborate with families and have a holistic approach, striving to combine the best possible professional practice with an engaging, emotionally and physically safe learning environment which supports students to believe in themselves and achieve their potential. It is a pleasure to be part of the dedicated and caring community at Clarkson Primary School.
Pearse, Cherie I have 15 years teaching experience, Level 3 classroom teacher with a focus on Literacy, Early Childhood Education and Aboriginal Education. I enjoy camping and the beach.
Penrose, Karen Current specialist PE teacher. Experience in Years PP-7 with over 27 years in teaching. Enjoy basketball, netball and Australian Doctor Dodge advocate.
Rigby, Joanne Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education. Have taught at Clarkson since 1997.
Salleo, Grace  I have been teaching at this wonderful school since 2001.  I love the opportunity I have had to teach our fabulous students Italian.  I enjoy going to as many concerts and musicals as possible.  I love reading books, listening to music and watching AFL, Basketball and Tennis.
Bracknell, Cara I have been teaching at Clarkson Primary School since 2012. I love teaching in Early Childhood.  It is so rewarding to see young children explore, develop and achieve their learning goals. My free time is spent enjoying family and friends, traveling and dancing. I have been performing calisthenics and competing at a national level from a young age. I enjoy using my performance background to create assembly items and school productions at Clarkson.
St James, Rayna Have enjoyed teaching at Yandeyarra Remote Community School (2 years), Westonia Primary School (3 years) and Clarkson Primary School from 2007 as they are all different settings however have the same philosophy - "Kids Matter". Have lovely family and friends and enjoy spending time with them.

Chaplain:

 
Laura Butshiire Chaplain in Primary Schools for 3 years. Currently studying Bachelor of Social Science, majoring in Human Services. Lived in Uganda for a portion of 2012 and has the best memories from working with vulnerable babies and children in need.
